Through this week, I have learned and observed that technology is socially integrated. This technology is so prelevenths and always appearing that you can not avoid it. If an individual wanted to live technology free in todays world and avoid the spontaneity of the internet, he or she would have to move to a rural area and separate themselves from civilization. if the individual were to do this separation, still, they would be affected by technology and would discover it is impossible to avoid it. The internet has been around for a while now (relatively) and its use has evolved rapidly.
Our parents generation grew up with the TV as the major technological evolution that was a key in occupying time and communicating with other cultures and civilizations. Today, the Internet has gone to surpass what the TV can do. providing instant replays, online streaming, in even better quality than the modern TV could 5 years ago. Times are changing, and it is obvious the Internets evolution is a large part of it, and it will be interesting to see what will come next!

everyone is familiar with Facebook, and a vast majority of high school and college students use the social networking site. The reasons for using the site vary greatly, some use the site for communicating academics, many use it for organizing groups/organizations or athletics, others use it for broadcasting to their friends, to meet people/relationships/friendships, and others use it to keep in touch with old friends they do not see regularly!

Internet Replacing the TV?
today while viewing video clips from the recent swimming world cup in Stockholm, Sweden on Universalsports, I realized that the clips I was watching were less than a week old. In fact, the videos you can watch online are streamed live in high quality, and in case you missed the live stream (like I did), you can go online and watch it for free.
It is Great, perhaps better than TV....

The Monday after Thanksgiving is known as "Cyber Monday"...however because over 60% of American Households are supported with high speed internet, the online marketplace is coming earlier and earlier every year:

Michigan Promise Scholarship protest
Monday November 23, 2009: Michigan Promise Scholarship Protest on Warren and Cass Ave
Following response I made via Wiki:
The Protest that occurred on Monday November 23, 2009 was a great movement for the university and student body. Two years ago I was forced to take the ACT and MME, both exams required missing class and high anxiety was presented to students by our high school faculty. I had met the requirements for receiving the Michigan Promise Scholarship with the intention that I would receive 1,000 dollars for all four years if I attended a University inside of Michigan. I figured this was great; another 4,000 to add to my other scholarships would be great. This school year I discovered I would not receive any of this money, and was incredibly disappointed. Luckily I can still afford to attend this University through other scholarships and a job, but that 4,000 would take me around 400 hours to make, time I could use: studying, volunteering, spending time with my family, and relaxing from the chaos in my life. The protest that occurred on Warren Ave displayed to our Michigan Congress that the Student body cares a great deal that they decided we would not receive our “promise” scholarship. The protest featured student speakers and the media (WXYZ). At the protest, students received a t-shirt and a poster to show that the student body is unified in their thoughts. The picture below was taken on my phone of Dave LewAllen of the WXYZ action team interviewing a faculty member on what is going on and his thoughts about the scholarship.

I bring this up, because Technology was used to communicate the protest: Email, online advertisements, and the media was involved in capturing the event along with the print Media: Detroit News, which I read Online:

Week 1 Analysis
It could not be more evident that Technology surrounds each and every one of us. It is critical to observe this and take notice because it is the younger generation that is effected greatest by these advances. It is observable that Wayne State University Students as well as other students and individuals around that age use technology daily and would be lost with out their laptops, music players, and smart phones. all this takes place in the background, we do not notice that we check our email or phone over 50 times a day, but in the back of our minds it happens, and it would be very interesting to see what would happen if technology were to be suddenly taken away from everyone, and observe how the different generations would cope in very distinct ways.
Additionally, technology has snuck its way into the classroom, as this post along with this blog is a required portion of a project for a university course. If for example 10 years ago this assignment was created 10 years ago, when the internet and blogs were in low use and perhaps (blogs) non-existent, then this project would seem irrelevant. Today we are all connected, and this blog is a powerful form of brainstorming and presenting ones thoughts to the open and at the same time informing the audience what is on my mind!

Age of Tech...
Young ones use Tech toys, Older ones struggle.
many claim, old people do not have the "chip" in their head...I agree!

Digital Technology: Importance
the reason for picking this topic is simple enough: Technology is integrated with society, and we as a civilization can not live with out it.
The fact that I am typing this on a laptop computer connected to the internet wireless displays how dependent society (and myself) is to the tech toys we live on.
